BLANKET MINISTRY -

CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES - A regional organization that provides assistance to those in need.

CONSOLATION APOSTOLATE - Offers assistance and support to families who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Volunteers are trained to listen and offer support and are there to represent the parish at the vigil and funeral.

HOMEBOUND MINISTRY - Provides care for homebound parishioners. Includes general assistance, errands, chores and transportation.

LEGION OF MARY

NURSING HOME - Provides support to Catholic patients of Highland Terrace Nursing Home. Includes monthly Mass on Thursday mornings, recitation of the rosary and Communion visits.

PRAYER CHAIN - Intentions are given to the prayer chain leader who initiates the calling of the chain.

PRISON VISITATION - Offers visits to prisoners to share Catholic teachings, provide encouragement and distribute Communion.

RESPECT LIFE - Keeps abreast of all community and national happenings regarding life issues including right to life, euthanasia, etc. Informs parish and organizes events relating to this cause.

ST. ELIZABETH APOSTOLATE - An outreach support ministry to women and their families during the joys, trials, and sorrows of childbearing years. Meal support is available.

Parish Life


AQUINAS GUILD - A women's service group that sponsors various parish and community-wide events such as the Harvest Dinner and Kristkindlmart Christmas Bazaar. Also coordinates volunteer side dish donations and service at funeral lunches. Meets 1st Wednesday of the month. Contact: Kate Linde 835-2490

BOYS CLUB - We develop boys to become self-disciplined and confident Catholic leaders committed to improving their communities. The Club includes an atmosphere of adventure that promotes friendship, fun and religious formation.  There are monthly meetings (2nd S unday in the Fireside Room at 6:45pm), quarterly field trips and Apostolic Works.  Boys Club is for boys from their First Communion through age 13.

CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS - Organization which builds faith, develops patriotism and promotes spiritual and intellectual development of Catholic Women. Meets 1st Monday each month.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS - Men's service organization that assists with ministries of the parish to include the sick and elderly, seminarians, right to life, etc. Also assists the community by cutting wood and providing Thanksgiving meals to the elderly and homebound. Also sponsors Cub and Boy Scouts. Meets 1st and 3rd Tuesdays.

MOM'S GROUP - Women of all ages welcome for fellowship and faith exploration. Meets the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Child care is available.

WELCOME COMMITTEE - Helps to make our parish warmer and more welcome for newcomers. Sponsors quarterly dinners to newcomer families to help them meet other families and learn about our Parish.

Faith Formation



ADORATION - Adoration is a traditional form of prayer that involves exposition of the Blessed Sacrament displayed in a monstrance. Parishioners commit to regular times of one hour per week from Friday afternoon, 1:00pm to Saturday mornings, 8:00 am. Eucharistic Adoration recalls Christ's question to his disciples in the garden of Gethsemane before his passion: Could you not watch one hour with me? It is held in the church.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION SERIES - A series of talks on varying topics of our faith. Topics emphasize the liturgy (its meaning, development and celebration), as well as the central teachings of Vatican II. Discussions range from Salvation History to Contemporary Hot Topics. Classes held Sunday evenings.

BAPTISMAL PREPARATION - Families wishing to present a child for baptism should make an appointment with the pastor.

BIBLE STUDY - Motivates all participants to read the Scriptures more often and with greater understanding. An Introduction to Scripture course is held on Tuesday evenings and an Overview of Salvation History is held Thursday mornings. All are welcome.

CIRCLE OF LOVE PRAYER GROUP - This charismatic prayer group is open to all and meets on Wednesday evenings.

ELEMENTARY RELIGIOUS ED - This program is designed for children to come to an understanding of the basic concepts of faith and religion as well as become familiar with God's revelation to the world through the Sacred Scriptures. Classes held Sunday evenings.

FAMILIA - Parents of young children meet for gospel reflection, a study of the catechism and a study of the Church teaching on marriage and family life. Women's and men's groups form each fall. Contact: Rebecca Trimble 817-9151

GOSPEL REFLECTION GROUPS - Small faith sharing groups gather monthly to reflect on the Gospel readings. Groups formed in individual neighborhoods.

HIGH SCHOOL CATECHESIS - Called Life Teen, the focal points of this program are Sacred Scripture, Saints and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This program intends to prepare the teens with the information, skills and formation to tackle anything the world throws at them. Classes held Sunday evenings.

MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER - A regional organization that provides weekend retreats for married couples wishing to make their good marriage better.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION - Couples should contact the Parish Office at least six months before the intended marriage date and Parish staff will direct them to the first step in beginning the preparation process.

JUNIOR HIGH CATECHESIS - Seventh and eighth grade students discuss and learn about most of the major life issues surrounding Catholics and the world today. Also the youth learn where Catholic teachings are located in the Holy Bible so they will become more comfortable, familiar and savvy with the text of Sacred Scripture. Classes held Sunday evenings.

MORNINGS OF RECOLLECTION - Held Saturday mornings, these "mini-retreats" are an opportunity for thoughtful reflection and fellowship. Begins with 9:00am Mass and then continues with talks and discussion with a guest speaker in the Fireside Room from 10:00am to noon.

NFP INSTRUCTION - In-depth education about the Catholic programs on Natural Family Planning. Information nights are held periodically. Private consultation is available.

ONE MIND ONE HEART RETREAT - A weekend designed to bring the Catholic faith to a point of commitment on the part of the participants. Held twice a year.

PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN CATECHESIS - Known as the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, this is a program of faith formation to develop an authentic, faithful and growing relationship with God. Classes held Sunday mornings and evenings.

RCIA - The rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a program for those who are interested in becoming Catholic and for those non-Catholics who are just interested in learning more about the Catholic Church. The program begins in October.

RCIC - This Rite of Christian Initiation for Children is a program for children over the age of seven who have not been baptized or who have not yet received First Communion and wish to receive those sacraments.

Liturgy



ACOLYTES - Assist the priest during the weekend Mass and special liturgies; direct altar servers. Prepare altar for the liturgy of the Eucharist. Open to high school boys.
